The Chief Finance and Administration Officer (CFAO) is a key leadership role reporting to the CEO in the areas of Finance, Compliance, and Human Resources. The role requires deep experience in financial management, strong problem solving, and analytical skills. The CFAO is responsible for directing the fiscal and HR functions of Building Markets in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, donor compliance requirements, regulatory environments in our countries of operation, and in accordance with financial management techniques and practices appropriate within the non-profit industry. This is an outstanding opportunity for a finance executive with experience in financial management and leadership, ideally gained through both nonprofit and corporate settings. Successful candidates will have a proven track record, accounting certification, and experience with a non-profit organization that works internationally.
A hands-on digital MacGyver excited about our mission and able to lead our technology-based initiatives. This includes managing our WordPress and Drupal sites, and an internal Salesforce Database, as well as other software and systems. You will enhance the function and design of existing products and resources, and will work with management to refine strategy and improve workflows associated with the Organization’s tech. You must be able to teach, both in-person and virtually, including establishing a common vocabulary to get the entire team on the same page as new processes are implemented and refined. This is a flexible position that will involve 15-21 hours per week. An ideal candidate is able to travel to our NYC office, although some work may be done remotely.
The Summer Internship is open to recent graduates or current students who are interested in gaining hands-on experience with an international nonprofit organization. The Intern will support Building Markets’ headquarters team in New York City. Specific start dates are flexible, but the Intern would be expected to work for approximately four months (May to August). A modest monthly stipend may be available.
Building Markets seeks a dynamic, data-savvy student currently enrolled in a Graduate program or a recent graduate of a Bachelor’s degree program to help the organization transition to an interactive Salesforce data management solution. The Fellow should be a master of Excel and an expert in consolidating, cleaning, and analyzing very large datasets. The Fellow will report to the Project Officer in NYC. Specific start dates are flexible, but the Fellow would be expected to work part-time for approximately four months. A modest monthly stipend may be available.
